A map, a compass and unknown terrain

Orienteering

The history of orienteering began in the late 19th century in Sweden. The term “orienteering” was first used in 1886 and referred to crossing unknown terrain with the help of a map and compass. The first public orienteering competition took place in Norway in 1897.

Orienteering is a timed race in which participants start at intervals, are individually timed, and are expected to navigate independently. GPS devices of any kind are not allowed and must be removed before the event begins. Control points are marked on the orienteering map with small purple circles, where the control point may be located anywhere within the circle but is usually near the center. Each point must be visited in the order shown on the map. The ranking is determined by the fastest successful completion of the course.

At Mister S Tailored Events, we organize orienteering experiences on Mount Rajac. These activities are designed for beginners with no prior experience.

The goal is for participants to learn something new, enjoy themselves in nature while searching for “signs” or checkpoints, and develop teamwork skills in overcoming various obstacles.
